This month at DIYP we were all about portraits: the good, the bad and the ugly (although we won’t point any fingers!). We asked our followers on Threads to drop their best portrait images in the chat, and the DIYP team has selected our favourites to share.
It wasn’t an easy selection, and there was a huge mix of images from enthusiast photographers to pros using anything from mobile phones to medium-format cameras. However, the ones that stood out the most always evoked some kind of emotion or intrigue about the subject. It’s not always about technical perfection or having a fancy camera. This is truly what sets a great portrait apart from a good one. Here are our favourites, in no particular order.

A massive thank you to everyone who participated. For those of you who shared some superb animal portraits or insect macro, don’t worry, there will be a future opportunity for those! This time we focused only on humans!
