The World Nature Photography Awards (WNPAs) have just announced their winners. The grand prize has gone to an image that feels like something straight out of a dream. Maruša Puhek from Slovenia took home the top award for her stunning shot of two deer gracefully running through a vineyard.
In addition to being an overall winner, and winning a $1,000 cash prize, her image also earned the first place in the Nature Art category. “I’m still in shock. This win means the world to me,” she commented. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity, and it came at exactly the right time in my life.”
Maruša’s winning photo captures the perfect blend of movement, natural beauty, and the harmony between wildlife and landscapes. It’s the kind of photo that makes you pause, take a deep breath, and appreciate the wonders of the world around you. Even when it seems there aren’t many left.

About World Nature Photography Awards
The World Nature Photography Awards was founded on the belief that even small efforts can help shape a better future for our planet. By highlighting nature’s beauty through photography, the WNPA hopes to inspire people to see the world differently and make choices that benefit the environment.
This year, thousands of entries poured in from 48 countries across six continents. The photographers submitted their images to 14 categories, showcasing everything from majestic landscapes to tiny, often-overlooked creatures.
Adrian Dinsdale, co-founder of the WNPAs, expressed his admiration for the winning images. He commented:
“As always, it’s such a thrill to witness the amazing calibre of entries into the awards. Seeing these images cannot fail to motivate one to do everything to protect this fragile planet of ours. We offer our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners.”
The 2026 World Nature Photography Awards is open for entries
Alongside announcing this year’s winners, the WNPAs have officially opened entries for the 2026 competition. Early Bird rates (£27 for up to six images) are available until March 30, 2025. So, I guess now’s the perfect time to start planning your submission.
